Case History: Attention deficit hyperactive disorder ADHD

Case 427 by N. P. Ball registered Homeopath and Naturopath

Jack (not his real name) born February 1994, was diagnosed in 1996-7 as having speech and develomental delay. After routine vaccination from the age of one year, he also developed hyperactive attention deficit disorder or ADHD. He dribbled profusely after the MMR jab was given to him and had an insatiable thirst.
"It was a total nightmare", said his mother.
In 1997 Jack's symptoms became worse. He was allergy tested privately in 1998 from which it was discovered that he was allergic to numerous foods especially dairy items, food colourings and additives.
At this point he was put on a diet of organic food but with all the known allergens removed from his meals by his parents. They changed to flouride-free drinking water and stopped using certain house sprays. This led to a very big improvement in his everyday behaviour and approach to life.
Fortunately he was able to go to a special needs school where he was able to achieve great benefits without undue pressure. He now appears to be very happy and well disposed to others. He loves people and is very interested in those around him.

Remedies: During the period from August 2000, when he was first brought to see me, he was given various nutritional supplements and remedies such as:-

1. Zinc ascorbate, Vitamin C, B Complex, Evening Primrose Oil, and occassionally multi minerals (mainly from the BioCare range of liquid supplements suitable for children).
2. Homeopathic potentised remedies beginning with Phytolacca followed by Kali Phos., Anacardium, Mercurius, Nat Mur., Argentum Nit., Chamimilla, Zinc Met., Opium and then Mercurius again.
3. From time to time he was also given homeopathic nosodes, such as Lueticum, Medorrhimium, Influenzinum and Tuberculinum whenever indicated.
4. Bach flower remedies were also prescribed: Sweet and White Chestnut mixed together and given morning and night plus a dose of Imatiens in the afternoons.

The use of the nutritional supplements plus homeopathic and Bach remedies has, in the parents words:
"Made a huge difference to him across the board, both in his concentration, his calmness and his behaviour". "He also has a delightful sense of humour and is looking healthy, strong and robust". He lives with his mum, dad and two older sisters and is continuing to receive the Zinc and the Vitamin C.
This regime plus the organic foods, appears to be helping with Jack's continued improvement. he is now nine years of age and has recently received spinal manipulation, which is also giving benefits. he is now able to clearly recognise words and write with encouragement. He plays sport with gusto.
Permission to write and release this to professional journals and the internet was given to Norman Ball by Jack's mother.

Attention deficit hyperactive disorder. An update of the case 427  part 2:
During October 2005 Jack's mother supplied the author Norman P. Ball with a short report on her son's progress, which is detailed  below:
"Jack is now 11 years and 8  months old. He transferred to his secondary special needs school  last month, (September 2005). Jack continues to receive Zinc and vitamin C liquid food supplements and we, (his parents), have  added  "eye q" (an EPA rich marine fish oil with virgin evening primrose oil), and on occasions Bach rescue remedy. Jack continues to receive, on a fortnightly basis, spinal manipulation, which also helps with his concentration.
Jack has continued to make steady and pleasing progress in all areas, particularly his speech  and language development. He is a lovable, friendly boy with a great sense of humour and fun.
As parents we celebrate what he can do and not what he cannot do, but thankfully he has numerous skills such as cooking, mowing the grass, using the electric strimmer, making excellent tea and coffee and he is both physically healthy and strong and a great help for those heavy jobs.
Without doubt the homeopathic and naturopathic approach, along with lots of love and care has made Jack the boy he is today. We will continue to use alternative remedies without any medical  intervention, indefinitely.
